Signs You Might Need a Hearing Test
It can be worth booking a hearing check if you find yourself turning up the TV or radio, often asking people to repeat themselves, struggling to follow conversations in noisy places, or noticing ringing in your ears (tinnitus). What a Hearing Test Involves
A hearing test is simple, comfortable and painless. Your audiologist will ask about your hearing and history, examine your ears, and carry out assessments such as pure tone audiometry, where you respond to sounds at different pitches and volumes. The results are charted on a graph called an audiogram, which shows the type and degree of any hearing loss. Your audiologist will explain your results and discuss the options that suit you.

Free hearing checks may be available for eligible patients, including pensioners and DVA card holders, under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program. Other assessments and services may involve a fee. Please ask reception about your eligibility and current costs.

How long does a hearing test take?
A hearing assessment usually takes around 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of assessment and your needs.
